AMBITION OR DELIVERY? by Victor Obagidi

AMBITION OR DELIVERY?

It is becoming consequentially difficult to choose what is actually the most important between a person's POLITICAL AMBITION and ABILITY TO DELIVER in the attainment of a common goal when the word "POLITICS" is involved. I wouldn't delve into writing this as much as I would love to but I think it's important I air my views because am very much concerned about the kind of Nigeria my generation will leave for the coming generation.

It bothers my mind to find out that we point fingers at the leaders at the state and national level for mismanaging us and opting for their self interest in exchange for the joy of the masses and still, we are running towards the same direction as we are critically investing in the same mess by doing virtually the same thing at the lower level; a major part of which faculty politics is involved.

Straight to the point, I am not oblivious of the fact that there are different sect in the faculty politics which projects their individual candidates to run for a particular position and I am not against it. That is why it is politics... A game of people. But I am more concerned about the projection from any of the sect, a candidate that does not have what it takes to lead his or herself not to talk of leading others all in the name of having a political ambition. This is the basis for my question "which is most important, Ambition or Delivery?

Would you vote for someone because he claims to have a political ambition or because he can deliver on the common goals set in front of him?

This is a serious issue that must be taken seriously because it has eaten deep into our faculty politics and it is beginning to form the foundation at which the future of Nigeria is built on.

The integrity of my virtual pen can not be questioned as I stand to speak nothing but the truth always no matter how hard or unbelievable it sounds. If you have any reaction my writing, I would appreciate reading your reaction without pride or prejudice.
