Changing the world by being humane-by Davi'O R Seki
Changing the world by being Humane.
Education has always been the key to success. I don't mean University or institutional education. We have one way or another received education from various sources, including school, parents, elder ones, television and etc. And we have all become who we are based on the education we have received. This is dependent on the environment that we are bred in. For example, a doctor goes into a medical institution to be educated and inducted into the medical profession. A good doctor is well educated, not just academically, but also in personal content and character. So do we find in other professions Vocations such as Journalism, Pharmacy, Architecture, Management sciences, Priesthood and etc. Education is what builds a person's character. One important character is being humane. Having a sense of empathy for humanity is what humane is about. No humane man would hurt another on purpose, and even when he does hurt someone by mistake, he moves to make amends, because he feels that that person is human as well. This character of being humane enables one to treat their neighbors well.
This is what we need in our world— to be more humane— in our approach towards many things. But many persons do not know how to be humane and a large number of our population do not even know a word as such exists. And why is that? Because there is not much education on Being Humane. If both children and adults are taught on practicing the character, they world would change for the better. Perhaps, we have been getting it the wrong way over centuries that have passed and have been failing to get this right. Many persons have tried to change the world by using war and force and terrible criticism from religious, philosophical, political and various other perspectives, but failed. However, we have seen various masters over centuries who have come to show us we could change the world by simply being humane. Such Masters include Buddha and the very much revered Jesus Christ, pillar of the Christian tradition. These good masters have followed the way of peace and have asked followers to be peaceful as well. Peace of mind and body is what one gets from being a humane person. One tends to extend their hand of friendship to other humans irrespective of tribe, talent, Creed or even race. A humane person sees everybody as a human being who deserves to be treated as such. The rules and regulations to a humane man is Love for his neighbors and doing what is right.
It is possible for us to attain such human standard if we choose to be humane and educate generations on being humane as mentioned in the first paragraph. Education is the path to attain success in making our world a better place and it is important for us to educate everyone to be humane...
Let's be Humane and change our world together...
Sincerely yours,
