TRUTH NEEDS TO BE TOLD -by Cyril Iyanu

TRUTH NEEDS TO BE TOLD

With a heavy heart I pick up my pen and begin to write this article that I believe would change the entire philosophy of Nigerians forever

I'll start like this...

NIGERIANS ARE LAZY!

We want to be spoon fed,we depend too largely on government to provide our needs,we look onto them as gods to send rain upon our soil when we have planted no seeds

We hold them accountable whenever the country is caught in turmoil but we never want to be accountable for our own deeds.

Truth needs to be told!

An average Nigerian is a coward,a scaredy cat...afraid to change the status quo whenever he or she is in authority

Too scared to make a move that'll benefit the entire populace
The average Nigerian whimpers and shivers in the sight of any opposing factor to the greater good of the country.
And worse of all he leaves office in a bigger mess than it was when he met it.

The average Nigerian backs down and gives up too easily... We resort to running and hiding from the very things we should have conquered long ago

The average Nigerian is an ibo woman(please take no offence... This seems to be my most suitable analogy)
Who rarely ventures into the house of a poor man but dives deeply with all enthusiasm into a house full of gold and already drowned in riches

The average Nigerian only has mouth power but never seems to make a move...we keep hoping and praying that one day things would get better I always hear people say "anyhow sha,Nigeria go better"

And we sit our fat asses down and do nothing to change the state of our oil rich, soil rich, human resources rich dearly beloved country.

It pains me to see a child on the street begging for an amount of money as meagre as #20 just so he or she can eat...while our bastardized, retarded, pot bellied senators/politicians earn salaries and allowances well large enough to feed a whole state for a month(I'm talking 3 square balanced diet meals for 30 days)

Salaries large enough to develop a whole state as well(I keep telling my friends that some senators/politicians have "DUBAI" in their bank accounts.

The average Nigerian would gladly resort to running out of the country as the easiest way to paradise... They are least aware that it is not always greener on the other side.

Sometimes I wonder why boko haram could be so stupid ...pls if u have to bomb anywhere just go to the houses of those greedy, corrupt, selfish and ill-meaning politicians and detonate your bomb there.

Stop wasting TNT on the precious lives of well meaning Nigerians who struggle everyday just to get a living (I'm no supporter of acts of terrorism through I'm just giving instances where it could be more appropriate)

Nigeria needs a revolution

Just like every other 1st and 2nd world country has witnessed... For we to get pure gold we have to separate the impurities from it...you have toem extract it from its ores

In which case the ores to the gold of Nigeria are those so called "godfathers",those who have occupied political position for donkey years

Those whose times have run out but have refused to let go of the fattening economy of Nigeria that constantly enriches them.

The best way of getting rid of snakes that find their way into your house is one of these 2 options.

1,let it go back the same way from whence it came, or if it be too stubborn and refuses to go;
2,you kill it in the very house of yours that it decided to overstay its welcome.

I sincerely believe that the solution to Nigeria's "snake problem" is the latter and would definitely be the most effective as time is too expensive and Nigerians can't afford to buy any more of it

Considering the fact that countries like the USA, THE UK,China,Russia and so many other countries are already ahead of us in terms of technological advancement

I must also reiterate that it is not my sole intent to shove all the blame to the leadership of Nigeria... I'll tell you why...the problem of Nigeria is not Nigeria as in the land mass but Nigerians...the legal occupants of the land mass and the problem herein is skin deep and not superficial.

The problem of Nigeria stems or emanates from the root...imagine a tree divided into  3parts
1,the head
2,the trunk
3,the roots
The people at the head are the government in all its 3 tiers, the politicians, the senators, those who occupy principal offices in government parastatals, those who have a say in the politics of Nigeria, the elites, the godfathers.

Those at the trunk are the working class principally those in civil service, I'd refer to them as being caught up in a fragile build up process...so I won't lat emphasis on them.

Now those on the root level are the most important on the tree,I would lay emphasis on them as they are the stakeholders, the deciding factors, the TRUE strength of the Nation.

Let me now expatiate how they affect the political development of a country directly.

Let me take you back in time let's take a little nostalgic ride .....remember when you were a child and you had to learn the alphabets and numbers?
That was you laying a foundation for an educated/literate life ...some of us liked it others didn't but either ways we still learnt.

Now come to think of it if we never learnt the alphabets would we be able to read? I sure as hell wouldn't b able to write either... So suffice it to say that ,that learning period was and is still indispensable to our grammatically buoyant life...let me now show you how it relates to politics

Learning ABCD and all that was you getting a basic knowledge on how politics in Nigeria is being played...it might have started when you were a kid or a teenager,an adult or when you genuinely decided to  stop being apolitical and learn the dynamics of politics... At that time, you were "laying a foundation" that would decide how politically inclined you would become in the future.

At that point in time you learnt by reading the newspaper and seeing on the TV how politicians would embezzle public funds in their billions and disperse them in various accounts spread all over the country/world.

You watched how people made themselves rich at the expense of others without remorse or humanly sympathy... Little by little your entire ideology of politics was being formed.

They made you believe that the wealth of Nigeria was a national cake and your time in office was principally for you to get a large chunk of it.

They made you create mental images of how much money you would amass when you get into office.

And yes I wouldn't blame you; you were only learning (by visual inspection) just like any hapless innocent child would.

You could also experience the hardships felt for those living at the bottom of the food chain(you inclusive).

You experienced how fuel scarcity ravaged the country every year and you continuously anticipated the removal of fuel subsidy annually.

You watched as pure water turned from #5 to #10 as bread turned from #50 to #100 as a cup of rice rose from #50 to #120 and as fuel rose from #87 per litre to #145 per litre...

You watched as your retired grandfather hopelessly prayed that one day his retirement would be paid him

You also watched tirelessly as your parents worked for 4months and counting without pay...it was a bitter experience but still you had to go through it

One day you and your "gang" found yourselves discussing the state of the nation and the hardship y'all had been facing meanwhile the Presidents' wardrope allowance was enough to build you a house and give you enough capital to start an SME

You discussed how your state governor paid a visit to a newly constructed primary school in your community to commission it and how he had arrived with a convoy comprising at least 20 cars all worth at least #4million each

You felt pain inside sincerely you did but you did not resort to crying

With the anger flaring up inside of you,you mumbled this words

"Make I first enter office first I go too chop money"

And that was how it all started

The foundation for your corrupt political life had been laid...and that is the ROOT of the problems we are facing today.

In Nigeria today an average Nigerian would not hesitate if given the opportunity to loot public funds

It makes me beg the question...Where is our dignity?

Isn't it the same country we pledged to serve with all our strength?

How come we are now so enthusiastic to see it crumble to the ground?

You have to un-learn the bad principles that have eaten deep into your soul

Let's join hands in building the Nigeria our children would be proud of

The Nigeria we visualise is almost within our grasp

Let's join hands and make Nigeria a better place

IT BEGINS WITH YOU

happy democracy day !
Pls rebroadcast I want to cause an awareness
