Hostel application procedure
STILL ON 🔝 OF THE MATTER
FROM THE CONSTITUENCY OF HOSTEL APPLICATION
UPDATE ON HOSTEL MATTERS ('16/17 ACADEMIC SESSION)
Barely weeks after end of our second semester examination;
There is no gainsaying that some set of Uniben students are feeling ennui (already chivvied & anticipating for resumption) whereas others are delighted, enthralled and enlivened at home
(anticipating extension of academic calendar)
It's no longer news that, curiosity has been order of the day in various social media,with respect to what modulus operandi '16/17,will hostel application process would take.
Based on this, l Hon. Joshua Iluobe Idemudia ( Chairman, house committee of hostel matters) and Hon. Ofure Efeovbokhan (Vice Chairman) paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of Students, on issues concerning hostel application procedure and the maintenance of our Halls of Residence.
The following are what you should know as a Student of the University of Benin with regards to hostel application.
1: The Hostel application process for the next academic session is yet to be decided by the School management. Meanwhile Indications have shown that the process would likely be online. However, the Dean assures us of a stress-free and open process.
2: It's no longer news that the Hostel spaces available cannot accommodate everyone Uniben Students. To this effect; Dean said that priority would be given to the final year and first year students,then remaining available space, will be strictly on first come, first serve to other students, whose last session result must have been updated on their student Kofa page. Thus, it's behoves on each faculty/department to submit their results to the Senate as soon as possible.
3. On the Issue of bed-bugs in the Hall of Residence, the Dean said the school is yet to take a stand as to whether students would be allowed to bring in their mattresses. According to him, "It's either they bring in their mattresses and are made to do personal treatment of the mattress and the space allocated to, or the school fumigate the rooms and the Students bring in only new mattresses.
However, the committee are indefatigably working with the Dean, to ensure that salubrious condition of our hostel get ameliorated by next session.
